Commitment to Biosphere Tourism Sustainability

The Tourist Office of Arenys de Mar, since 2017, annually renews the distinctive “Commitment to Biosphere Tourism Sustainability”, granted by the Responsible Tourism System of the Institute of Responsible Tourism (ITR). This badge was launched in the province of Barcelona from the same year, with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council, and is deployed through the tourist brands of the territory.

Adherence to this commitment reflects the desire to move towards a more respectful, balanced and aligned tourism model with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The main commitments undertaken by the Tourist Office are:

• Commitment to sustainability through Biosphere, following the values, objectives and improvement plan developed by the technical team.
• Adhesion to the principles of the World Charter for Sustainable Tourism, promoting responsible tourism development.
• Prevention of negative impacts of activities and facilities and enhancement of positive impacts, especially in the environmental and social field.
• Continuous improvement in the sociocultural, economic and environmental fields, in order to guarantee sustainable and adaptive management.
• Commitment to customer satisfaction, both internal and external, highlighting the value of the tourist experience and the quality of the service.
